Preventative pole maintenance ensures safety

This article was published in June 2023 and may be outdated.

Through pole maintenance, we inspect all 1.1 million wood poles across the province to look for signs of rot, infestation, or abnormalities that would cause safety issues. We also work to preserve the longevity of the poles by applying moisture-prevention substances and injection treatments to treat internal rot caused by pesticides and moisture.

Through maintenance we can improve the safety for our employees and you by ensuring poles do not break during maintenance, and that poles do not fall onto vehicles or pedestrians. Preventative maintenance will also prolong the life of wood poles and save Manitobans money.

Current schedule

Pole maintenance for 2023 started in May. We are working primarily in the Arborg and Brandon areas. If you live in these areas we will contact you in advance by a recorded message.
