Loans to help your energy future

Loans to help manage your energy costs

In our Integrated Resource Plan, we heard from lots of our customers (and government and other stakeholders) that technology is going to play a huge role in the energy future in Manitoba. We know a lot of customers are thinking about energy efficiency upgrades — that’s why we offer a loan to help with them. With our Home Energy Efficiency Loan, you can finance up to $12,500 in energy efficiency upgrades to your home.

There’s no down payment required, and your monthly payments will be added to your Manitoba Hydro bill.

Upgrades that are covered

Our Home Energy Efficiency Loan can help you finance a lot of different upgrades. Some popular options include natural gas furnaces and boilers, central air conditioners, insulation, water heaters, and windows and doors, but there are a lot more than that available. If you’re thinking about a heat pump, solar photovoltaic system, or even radon mitigation, or even an electric vehicle charger, see our list of available upgrades.

How to apply

Before you start your project, contact a participating contractor or retailer and make sure your project is eligible.

A retailer or contractor can help you complete your application form, and they’ll even submit it to us on your behalf. Since it’s important to trust your renovation contractor, we recommend you get three written quotes to compare costs and warranties. You may also want to follow our other tips for hiring a contractor.

Rebates

We provide the Home Energy Efficiency Loan, but Efficiency Manitoba provides rebates and other programming. You can combine a rebate from Efficiency Manitoba with our Home Energy Efficiency Loan. See Efficiency Manitoba’s programming offers.
