Allan Danroth
President & Chief Executive Officer
Prior to joining Manitoba Hydro, Allan was Vice-President of Operations at Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries. He has also held senior leadership positions at Capital Power, AV Nackawic and other resource, health and energy companies.
He holds an M.B.A from Athabasca University, a First-Class Power Engineering designation and a diploma in Marketing and Management Sciences from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Allan joined Manitoba Hydro in 2024.
Hal Turner
Vice-President
Hal has held leadership and senior leadership positions in engineering, project management and asset management.
As Vice-President of Asset Planning and Delivery, Hal was responsible for strategically managing our generation, transmission, distribution, and gas assets including the engineering, construction, and project management functions. Hal was responsible for executive oversight of the Keeyask Generating Station and the development of our Integrated Resource Plan.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a certificate in asset management from the Institute of Asset Management. He is a registered professional engineer in Manitoba. Hal is an active member on Electricity Canada’s Generation Council.
Hal joined Manitoba Hydro in 1995.
Dave Bowen
Interim Vice-President, Asset Planning & Delivery
Dave has held various leadership and senior leadership roles in the design and construction of world-class infrastructure projects while at Manitoba Hydro.
His experience includes design, construction, contract administration, project management, engagement with external partners and stakeholders, and implementation of ongoing business efficiencies. He was the Director of our Integrated Resource Planning Division, which developed our 2023 Integrated Resource Plan.
Dave is responsible to provide executive oversight to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the electric (includes generation, transmission and distribution) and natural gas systems in an environmentally sustainable manner.
He has a Master of Science in Structural Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba. He is a registered professional engineer in Manitoba. He is a member of the Waterpower Canada Board.
Dave joined Manitoba Hydro in 2005.
Quinn Menec
Interim Vice-President, Operations
Quinn is responsible for the executive oversight of operating and maintaining the electric system’s generation, transmission and distribution system, as well as the natural gas distribution system.
He has held various leadership roles across many of our operational and support areas. His experience includes design, planning, maintenance, operations, business and customer support, property, engagement with external partners and stakeholders, and implementation of ongoing business efficiencies.
Quinn has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba. He received his professional accounting designation in 2012. He is a registered professional engineer in Manitoba.
He is an active member of the Wuskwatim Limited Partnership Board (chair), Keeyask Limited Partnership Board, and is a long serving panel member on the College of Registered Nurses Manitoba Disciplinary Committee. He has served on the Energy Council of Canada Board, Canadian Off Grid Utilities Board, and as a member of Transmission Council with Electricity Canada.
Quinn joined Manitoba Hydro in 2002.
Alex Chiang
Vice-President, Customer Solutions & Experience
Alex leads the Energy Markets, Sales, Product, Marketing, Customer Care, and Customer Strategy business units. He is a passionate advocate for customer centricity after spending 20 years in the financial services industry in strategic, operational and transformation delivery roles across Canada and the northeastern United States.
Prior to joining Manitoba Hydro, Alex was responsible for defining and delivering new ways to enhance the customer experience and improve financial advice for Canadian Personal Banking at TD Bank. He also served as District Vice-President for 20 retail branches in Burnaby and Coquitlam, B.C. and as the Associate Vice-President for the Pacific Region Support Office for B.C. and Yukon.
Alex has a Master in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, and Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.
He is a board member of the Canadian Gas Association and is Vice-Chair for Electricity Canada’s Customer Council.
Alex joined Manitoba Hydro in 2020.
Ian Fish
Vice-President, Digital & Technology
Ian’s expertise is critical as we look at new technologies and practices to support our customer-centric vision.
Prior to joining Manitoba Hydro, Ian was a Partner at IBM Canada’s Canadian Health practice in Winnipeg. He was the Managing Principal for Western Canada for Telus Health and served in senior roles at Accenture in Toronto, Manitoba eHealth, and the Health Sciences Centre.
Ian has a Master of Science and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba.
He is an active participant on the Public Sector Chief Information Officer Advisory and Canadian Electricity Association Technology committees. Ian is on the Reh-Fit Centre Board of Directors and a former board member of the Manitoba Lung Association.
Ian joined Manitoba Hydro in September 2020.
Jeffrey W. Betker
Vice-President, External & Indigenous Relations and Communications
Jeff is responsible for internal and external communications to manage our reputation and community presence, employee communications, Indigenous, and stakeholder relations.
Prior to joining Manitoba Hydro, Jeff held leadership positions with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, TC Energy, and Manitoba Metis Federation.
He has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba, and a Master of Business Administration (with distinction) from the University of Birmingham in England. He has a certificate in negotiation and conflict resolution from Dalhousie University.
He serves on the board of directors for the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre and Economic Development Winnipeg.
Jeff joined Manitoba Hydro in 2018.
Jamie Hanly
Vice-President, Human Resources and Safety, Health & Environment
Jamie has executive leadership experience in both the public and private sector. She served as Chief Human Resources Officer for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. Jamie was the Vice-President of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and the Vice-President of Human Resources with the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
She has a chartered professional in human resources designation, a certificate in organizational values and ethics from Carleton University, a graduate certificate in executive coaching from Royal Roads University, a Master of Arts in Leadership, a chartered director’s designation from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge. She is certified as a lean leader and holds an associate certified coach designation through the International Coaching Federation.
Jamie joined Manitoba Hydro in December 2021.
Alastair Fogg
Vice-President & Chief Financial Officer
Alastair is responsible for developing financial strategies that affect and influence the decision-making of our company. This includes supporting the Executive team and Manitoba Hydro Electric Board in establishing financial strategy and planning and priorities while ensuring that we meet our financial objectives. He provides broad direction regarding regulatory affairs.
He has held various leadership positions including Corporate Controller and Director of Enterprise Risk Management. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master in Business Administration (finance) from the University of Manitoba. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and registered professional engineer in Manitoba.
Alastair joined Manitoba Hydro in 2009.
